Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Position Summary:

Demonstrates essential skill in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs reassessments according to state and facility guidelines, adjusting treatment plan accordingly under the guidance of a Licensed Occupational Therapist. Adheres to department policy regarding time frame, appropriate form and content of written rehabilitation documentation. Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts. Completes all administrative and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit.

Education:

Up to one year in a hospital setting. Associates degree from accredited occupational therapy assistant program. Licensed in the State of Illinois or pending examination as new graduate.

Certified Nurse Aide

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, the Certified nurse Aide will perform a variety of patient care functions within the parameters of their training.

Education:

Must be a High School graduate or equivalent and meet the Illinois state requirements of the Certified Nurse Aide Registry through completion of a CNA course or equivalent and registered with the state.

Certified Surgical Tech

Position Summary:

Using the four Core Values performs a variety of duties to maintain Operating Room efficiency and assist the Surgical Team.

Coordinator, Medical Staff


Position Summary:

Coordinates the centralized credentialing processes to adhere to SMH medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures, JCAHO, NCQA, federal and state regulatory standards. Responsible for timely communication of extraordinary information or potential problems. Processes appointments and/or reappointments for medical staff membership. Supports department/section/committee meetings.

Education:

3 years of related experience including at least 1 year of managing the medical staff function highly preferred. Successful completion of (or eligible for) certification examination by National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) for Certified Medical Staff Coordinator (CMSC) may be substituted for one year of experience. Medical Staff Services experience (or related field) preferred. Associate Degree preferred or combination of education and experience deemed equivalent. Candidate must possess excellent organization and prioritization skills, communication skills, computer skills and demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.

Emergency Department Secretary

Position Summary:

Performs a variety of clinical and processing functions not requiring specific training to enable the trained nursing staff to concentrate on skilled nursing techniques; performs general clerical duties; provides general assistance to physicians, nurse, patients, and visitors and practices the core values of respect, care, competence and joy.

Education:

Graduation from high school, with general clerical training; some previous experience or training in hospital work, medical terminology and computer knowledge preferred; supplemented by 6-8 weeks on-the-job training in addition to successful completion of 20 hours Information Systems training.

Emergency Department Technician

Position Summary:

Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and receives written and/or oral assignments and direction. Communicates/collaborates with care team members to provide coordinated, safe and compassionate care for patients. Utilizes information to continuously improve patient care and practice to enhance outcomes. Partners with supervisor to create a professional developers plan to provide employee with the necessary skills to deliver up-to-date patient care.

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent and EMT-B (or above) or CNA. Medical terminology, proficient in English, verbal and written communication skills and CPR certified.

Employee Health Nurse

Position Summary:

Demonstrates clinical nursing expertise and professional competency through the planning, implementation and manage Coordinates and manages Organization's workers' compensation program and implements case management strategies for specific operating unit. Actively participates in the attainment of Organization's strategic plan--goals and objectives. Education:

Position Summary:

Plans, organizes and conducts occupational therapy services to facilitate rehabilitation of physically and cognitively challenged children and adults.

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from an approved school of occupational therapy and successful completion or eligibility for the national certification examination.

Medical Office Specialist - St. Mary's Health Care - Ottawa

Position Summary:

Maintains completeness of patient records, schedules appointments, and accurately enters all physicians' orders. Operates and maintains office equipment, software, and supplies to support office operations. Performs other clerical tasks as assigned to support office operations.


Education:

General office work experience. Basic knowledge of MicroSoft Office software and office systems. Strong knowledge of physician billing. High school diploma or equivalent GED. Med-tech Terminology preferred. Certified & proficient in Coding. Physician Office Billing or willing to attend training.

Medical Technologist

Position Summary:

Performs laboratory tests to obtain data to assist the physician in the diagnosis of disease and to monitor therapy. A technologist collects or receives specimens, performs tests by standardized procedures, understands method principles, performs quality control, performs preventive and corrective maintenance, and interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical (panic) limits. Requires independent organized work to meet established deadlines and turnaround times and attention to detailed recording of data. A technologist demonstrates competency in test performance evaluation and theory application as such can supervise technicians and phlebotomists.

Education:

At least 3 years college training in biology, chemistry and mathematics; 1 year training in an approved School of Medical Technology. Registration by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, or demonstrated ability in specific laboratory area with 5-6 years experience.

Monitor Tech


Position Summary:

Provides secretarial support to ensure effective maintenance of confidential patient information Performs a variety of clerical activities to support efficient department operations. Provides prompt, efficient reception support for the unit. Performs cardiac monitoring by observing monitor screen for proper wave form on each telemetry patient and performs EKG interpretation by analyzing and recording EKG waveforms using accepted standards and guidelines. These results provide the current data required to determine appropriate treatment of arrhythmias and immediate life threatening situations.

Education:

High School Graduate or GED equivalent. General clerical training. CPR card. Computer literate.

Shift: 6P – 6A x 2

 


MT/MLT

Position Summary:

Registration by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, or demonstrated ability in specific laboratory area with 5-6 years experience.

3-11 x 20 hr per week


Pharmacist

Position Summary:

Reviews, interprets, and dispenses prescriptions and medication requests for hospital inpatients and outpatients to ensure that each individual patient receives appropriate drug therapy.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy. Preferably some experience in hospitals. Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Pharmacist in the State of Illinois. Continuing education to maintain licensure.

Physical Therapy Assistant

Position Summary:

Physical Therapist

Position Summary

Provides physical therapy services to patients including evaluation, planning individual patient care programs and implementing the plan through direct patient care to help the patient regain maximal function by relieving pain, promoting healing and assisting in adjustment to permanent or temporary disabilities.

Education

Work requires graduation from a school of Physical Therapy approved by the A.P.T.A. license or eligibility for license in the State of Illinois. Willingness to attend ongoing education courses to enhance professional knowledge. One to two month orientation on St. Mary's Hospital Policy, Procedure and practice pattern of the Rehabilitation department. Follow guidelines and standards as outlined in the American Physical Therapy Association:
Standards of Practice Code of Ethics Guide for professional conduct

Basic interpersonal skills are needed to communicate with patients, families, staff, and physicians and to perform activities requiring ordinary courtesy and tact.

Work requires constant walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching and pulling.

Radiologic Technologist, Physician Office - St. Mary's Health Care - Ottawa

Position Summary:

Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards and acts as a resource to radiography students and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions. Administers sound patient care practice according to hospital and department policies and procedures, to ensure the safety of the patients. Demonstrates radiation protection/safety for patients, staff and self as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines, to ensure the safety of the patients and staff. Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition, to ensure the safety of the patients and staff. Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations. Demonstrates the initiative for self-development, to ensure proficiency of staff with new technological changes.


Education:

Recent hospital experience preferred as a Radiology Technologist. Proficient in phlebotomy. Graduate of an accredited school of radiology technology. Maintains continuing education requirements for ARRT and IEMA license. Basic computer skills. Effective verbal communication skills. Capability to perform on-call, shift, holiday, and weekends when required. ARRT. CPR, IEMA.

RRT/RCP

Position Summary:

The RCP II is a mid-level practice RCP, with basic assessment and therapeutic skills in multiple patient populations, and advanced assessment/Skills in select areas or age groups. The RCP II is expected to have higher knowledge, skill, and abilities level than the RCP I, and to routinely perform at that level. The RCP II is expected to routinely perform and interact as a professional . The RCP II can handle most circumstances that may arise pertaining to respiratory care with minimal supervision. Expected to routinely perform and interact as a professional. The RCP II can handle most circumstances that may arise pertaining to respiratory care with occasional supervision. Clinical Practice - Administers basic respiratory care therapeutics and diagnostic services with skill and proficiency. Routinely integrates knowledge, skills and experience to promote optimum care for the patient. Works effectively and appropriately communicates with other healthcare members, the patient, and families. Utilizes standards, guidelines, protocols and pathways for optimal care delivery. incorporates data and information to continually improve care and practice to enhance outcome. Assumes responsibility for self-development through continuing education pathways. Evidenced by direct observation, interview, peer feedback and documentation.

Education:

Arterial Puncture, EKG's, Critical Thinking Skills. Age specific criteria. Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Critical thinking skills, ABS draws, ability to work under high stress.

Registered Nurse, Emergency Department

Position Summary:

Performs professional patient care to emergency patients making preliminary assessment, initial treatment plan, and notifying the physician, and performing treatment while in the Emergency Department and practices the core values of respect, care, competence and joy.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Periodic continuing education on hospital policies and procedures, new patient care methods, new treatments and equipment. ACLS certification is required. TNS, ECRN and PALS certifications required within one year.

Shift: Every other weekend and holiday

Position Summary:

Directs Patient Care Services personnel on the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric unit for the provision of high quality patient care on the assigned shift, through supervision and mentorship of staff, coordinates appropriate resources and communication. Position Summary:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; 2-3 years post surgical/ICU experience. relevant education, training, experience and documented competency; ACLS and CPR Certification. Registered in the State of Illinois.

Technician, Women’s Health

Position Summary:

Tray Aide, Nutritional Services

Position Summary:

Ensures tray line is stocked appropriately using menu and production sheets in a timely manner before each meal service. Ensures tray line is set up with the appropriate items before meal service to ensure efficiency of tray line. Serves appropriate portions and selections on patient tray line and late tray service to ensure patient nutritional requirements are met. Follows Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines when handling food and when cleaning work stations and breaking down patient tray line. Completes other assigned tasks including but not limited to the bakery, nourishments, salads, Meals on Wheels, and pre-prep.

Education:

Able to read English, write and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to do simple math and work from written menu instructions.
