Benefits of Joining St. Mary’s Team
Employment at St. Mary’s offers a wealth of benefits. In addition to competitive salaries, St. Mary’s offers a comprehensive range of benefits and the flexibility to choose those that best suit your needs. Each colleague is provided with an amount of credits per pay period with which to select benefits.
If a colleague elects to take insurance in excess of the allotted amount, the rates area affordable and paid by payroll deduction before that money is taxed.
Paid Time Off
A "paid time off" program is provided for all active full-time and active part-time benefited colleagues. Instead of dividing your time off into vacation, personal and sick time, St. Mary’s Hospital gives colleagues paid time off (PTO). This time can be used at your discretion for any reason, such as personal commitments, relaxation or brief illnesses.
First-year, full time colleagues accrue 24 days, and St. Mary’s recognizes continued service by awarding colleagues up to 34 days per year, based on years of service.
Medical Insurance
Our Flexplan Health Insurance Plan covers 100% of reasonable and customary charges with no deductible up to $250 per person for well child care, immunizations, physical exams, prostate exams and gynecological exams. A visit to a physician’s office will be paid at 80% per visit with no deductible when a diagnosis is provided.
All of these benefits apply even if you select nothing more than the basic coverage. Other benefits and deductibles vary depending on whether you enroll at the basic, intermediate or high level.
Dental Insurance
The Flexplan Dental Insurance Plan though Cigna Healthcare provides diagnostic and preventive services at 100% with no deductible. Other benefits and deductibles vary.
Life Insurance/Accidental Death & Dismemberment
Each eligible colleague receives basic employer-provided term life insurance. Colleagues have the option of selecting additional term life insurance for themselves, spouses or children at low-cost group rates.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
The Flexplan Group Long-term Disability Insurance provides colleagues with a portion of their salary if the become disabled.
Retirement Savings Plan
Any colleague that remains with St. Mary’s for more than five years is vested in a defined benefit pension plan. Although now rare, defined benefits are valuable to colleagues because they guarantee a percentage of your income will be replaced regardless of the economy.
Colleagues also are offered a tax-deferred annuity program and investment opportunities from three of the nation’s most reputable firms.

Colleague Health Services
St. Mary’s Hospital cares about the health of its colleagues. Therefore, immunizations and flu shots can be administered by the colleague health nurse at no cost to you. Colleagues also are offered yearly lab work during their anniversary hire month.
The cardiac rehab facility is available free to all colleagues who would like to work out. Spouses also may exercise for a monthly fee.
Tuition Reimbursement
St. Mary's Hospital recognizes that continuing education and training of hospital personnel improves the quality of patient care. A tuition reimbursement program providing for reimbursement of 100 percent of tuition cost, up to a maximum amount per annum (calendar year), is available for those colleagues wishing to continue their formal education in an area relating to the healthcare industry and the work of the Hospital. In order to receive financial assistance after completion of the approved authorized course, eligible colleagues must request reimbursement prior to the beginning of the semester.
A colleague must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to qualify for tuition reimbursement:
- The colleague must receive advance approval from his/her department director and the director of people services.
- The colleague must be on regular status (minimum of 32 hours per pay period) while in attendance.
- The colleague must receive a grade of "C" or better in the approved course.
- An invoice from the University/College must be submitted with the educational agreement form.

Wee Care Program
The hospital's Wee Care program is available to care for ill children and/or grandchildren while their parent(s)/grandparent(s) work. This service is free to all colleagues but it is dependent upon the availability of the medical/surgical/pediatrics department.
