St. Mary’s respiratory care department is a 24-hour-a-day/7-day-a-week inpatient and outpatient service. Inpatient services are provided to areas such as Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, and general nursing units. Outpatient services are provided by appointment and include such tests as EKGs and Pulmonary Function Tests.Patients with chronic lung conditions such as asthma, emphysema and cystic fibrosis, as well as those with other restrictive/obstructive pulmonary diseases/conditions may be referred to respiratory care.Diagnostic and therapeutic modalities include:- Oxygen therapy- Arterial Blood Sampling - Pulse Oximetry - Asthma therapy / education- Mechanical ventilation - Non-invasive mechanical ventilation (CPAP/BIPAP)St. Mary's Hospital respiratory care has been the recipient of the Quality Respiratory Care Recognition Award from the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) for four consecutive years (2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011).
