St. Mary’s Hospital hosting a free diabetes education series
Streator, Ill. – St. Mary's Hospital, an affiliate of Hospital Sisters Health System will host a three part diabetes series throughout October. The sessions include:
Wednesday, November 7 - On the Road to Better Managing Diabetes
An overview of diabetes and the basic skills needed to successfully manage the disease.
Wednesday, November 14 - Diabetes and Healthy Eating
A discussion of food, carbohydrates, how much to eat, and timing of meals for the best management of diabetes.
Wednesday, November 28 - Continuing Your Journey with Diabetes.
A discussion regarding short and long-term management skills needed to prevent complications associated with diabetes.
The fun and interactive discussions go beyond a typical lecture. The group will be led by Anne Lauterjung, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, and attendees will be encouraged to actively participate in the conversation.
All classes will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the basement conference room of St. Mary’s Hospital located at 111 Spring Street. Although this event is free, space is limited, and reservations are required. To reserve a space, please call 815-673-2311, extension 3649.
